Yack

Introducing Yack, a MacOS application that provides direct access to ChatGPT, the AI language chatbot developed by OpenAI, right from your menu bar. To utilize this tool, an OpenAI key is required.

This application is designed to be efficient, swift, and uncomplicated, crafted using Rust and maintaining a lightweight profile of under 10 MB. Yack boasts a keyboard-centric design, supports multiple themes, and embraces markdown functionality encompassing bullets, numbered lists, code blocks, and tables.

Privacy takes precedence with Yack; it operates as a secure tool that abstains from storing any user data on external servers. Instead, all essential data remains exclusively on the user’s device, safeguarding privacy.

Beyond its current capabilities, Yack is on the brink of introducing numerous enhancements, including seamless integration with other applications and improved search functionality. Soon, users can effortlessly draw context from various apps, use personalized prompts within Yack, and efficiently search through their chat history.

Furthermore, Yack extends its compatibility to both Apple Silicon and Intel chips. It caters to MacOS versions from 2020 onwards for the former and earlier iterations for the latter.

Summing it up, Yack offers MacOS users an elegant and streamlined means to harness OpenAI’s ChatGPT without the need for browser navigation.
